HIGH-RES AUDIO euphoria

SENNHEISER HD800 + HDVD800

intro

First of all let me get set the record straight. I am, by no means, an audiophile. I also do not possess super human hearing. I am however an appreciator of fine audio, good engineering, and superbly crafted instrumentation. I enjoy looking at gadgets and drool over the technical details just as much as I enjoy using those gadget for their intended purpose (although that’s not always the case). When I decided to upgrade my then current headphones/AMP combo, the Denon AH-D5000 and beyerdynamic A2, I was looking for something that I could own for life. A combo that will serve me well in all applications and stay true for years and years. After much deliberation, the Sennheiser HD800 and HDVD800 were my choice.

impressions

THE GOOD

In terms of Audio fidelity there is very little out there that can outperform this pair. The harmonics are crisp, clean, and true. The soundstage is out of this world.

very comfortable headphone to wear for extended periods.

aesthetically spectacular; two of the very best looking pieces of audio equipment.

THE BAD

PRICE. This is a very expensive pair of audio gear.

Doesn't come with balanced cables (sold separately).

THE BOTTOM LINE

If you're looking for a pair of high-end headphones and amp that you plan to keep and use for life, this is it; assuming price is not an issue.
